About Jinshanling & Gubeikou
Jinshanling Great Wall
Located on the Jinshan Mountains, its earliest construction dates back to the 6th century, though most sections were rebuilt during the Ming Dynasty. Jinshanling is admired for its well-preserved watchtowers, tablets, and barrier walls designed by General Qi Jiguang. This section offers both restored and original features, making it a favorite for serious hikers and photographers.
Gubeikou Great Wall
A historically significant section, Gubeikou has witnessed countless battles, including major conflicts during the Ming Dynasty and WWII. Nearby stands a temple dedicated to General Yang Ye of the Song Dynasty, and a cemetery honoring soldiers who fell during the Sino-Japanese War. Gubeikou’s largely unrestored state preserves the authentic atmosphere of the Great Wall.
